{"id":12382,"date":"2026-07-23T10:51:02","date_gmt":"2026-07-23T09:51:02","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/builtcolab.pt\/built-colab-took-part-in-the-first-demonstration-phase-of-the-criarte-project\/"},"modified":"2026-07-27T15:44:42","modified_gmt":"2026-07-27T14:44:42","slug":"built-colab-took-part-in-the-first-demonstration-phase-of-the-criarte-project","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/builtcolab.pt\/en\/news\/built-colab-took-part-in-the-first-demonstration-phase-of-the-criarte-project\/","title":{"rendered":"BUILT CoLAB took part in the first demonstration phase of the CRIARTE project"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p>At the end of June, the first integrated prototype and demonstrator for the CRIARTE project was carried out at the experimental testbed, with the aim of validating the process of installing sandwich panels on 6-metre-high fa\u00e7ades, under conditions representative of a real construction site and incorporating the technologies developed by the consortium partners, in both assisted and manual installation scenarios.<\/p>\n\n<p>During the demonstration held at the premises of Ingeniarius, the consortium leader, the collaboration processes between operators and robotic systems were assessed, as well as the coordination between the various technological components involved. At the same time, data was collected via components replicated in a local Digital Twin, including control of the telehandler\u2019s arm, the basket and the winch via a local interface, as well as monitoring of operator safety and ergonomics using image processing and a standalone 5G configuration.<\/p>\n\n<p>BUILT CoLAB contributed to this prototype by developing and validating Augmented Reality (AR) solutions to support on-site operations. During the trials, the application\u2019s registration engine \u2013 which is responsible for the precise and robust overlay of the BIM model onto the real-world environment \u2013 was rigorously tested. The persistence and robustness of spatial anchoring between different usage sessions were also assessed, and various auxiliary features were tested, such as the manipulation of building elements to view BIM properties or measurement tools directly within the augmented environment.<\/p>\n\n<p>Conducting these trials in an outdoor environment and in an operational context presented significant technical challenges, particularly in terms of hardware stability, thermal management of the equipment, the robustness of the local sensor network, and AR alignment.
