BUILT CoLAB carried out an ex-post evaluation of two projects to decarbonise Mota-Engil\u2019s industrial plants for the production of bituminous mixtures, located in Famalic\u00e3o and Montemor-o-Novo, following on from the ex-ante evaluation carried out in 2022.<\/p>\n\n
The ex-ante assessment was carried out as part of the respective applications under Call for Proposals No. 02\/C11-i01\/2022 \u2013 Industrial Decarbonisation Roadmaps and Business Capacity Building, enabling the baseline situation to be established and the potential for emissions reductions associated with the proposed measures to be estimated.<\/p>\n\n
Once these measures had been implemented, the ex-post evaluation made it possible to assess the results achieved and analyse the evolution of the environmental performance of the production processes. The results show a significant reduction in greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions, linked to the electrification of the production process and the almost complete elimination of the use of fossil fuels.<\/p>\n\n
The assessment thus made it possible to monitor the progress of two bituminous mix production plants, from the determination of their estimated decarbonisation potential through to the verification of the results and the reduction actually achieved.<\/p>\n\n
This collaboration demonstrates the importance of cooperation between scientific bodies and businesses in bringing about the environmental transition in the construction sector. By monitoring the results achieved, BUILT CoLAB helps to ensure that investments in decarbonisation translate into tangible reductions in emissions and reduced reliance on fossil fuels, thereby promoting sustainability in the AEC sector.<\/p>\n\n
This project falls under Component 11 \u2013 Decarbonisation of Industry (C11) of the Recovery and Resilience Plan (PRR), contributing to the national climate transition objectives and to the targets set out in the National Energy and Climate Plan 2030 (PNEC 2030) and the Roadmap to Carbon Neutrality 2050.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
