\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\tCommuniCity CoolScape responds to the challenge \u2018How to monitor and improve thermal behaviour and resilience?\u2019 launched by Porto City Council and aims to integrate sensor technology and citizen participation to support the co-design of the future Quinta de Salgueiros urban park, with a focus on improving thermal comfort and including the surrounding communities.\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t

To do this, the CoolScape pilot will create a digital twin of the park and determine sensor locations to collect environmental and citizen-generated data. To this end, thermal sensors have been installed and feedback will be obtained from the community, which will provide the necessary data to train a combined optimisation model, based on Artificial Intelligence (AI), to support the development and refinement of solutions to improve thermal comfort in Quinta de Salgueiros, while allowing the process to be replicated in other urban parks.<\/p>\n

Citizen involvement will consist of a survey using the \u2018Citizen as Sensor\u2019 approach, in which participants will have to answer questions about their perception of heat, wind and humidity at the different points in the park where the sensors are located. In this way, the aim is to promote meaningful participation, especially from under-represented groups, and collaborative decision-making based on data. This participatory process aims to ensure that the final design of the park reflects the priorities of the community and promotes its integration.<\/p>\n

Thus, with the use of AI and thermal sensors, combined with citizen input, the CoolScape pilot hopes to create a sustainable and adaptable park that can serve as a model for future urban developments.<\/p>\n\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/section>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t

The project has a significant part of its budget allocated to cascade funding and, at three different times, different cities identified challenges that were transformed into competitions for different pilots. BUILT CoLAB won three from the Municipality of Porto (with different entities), D-Power, CoolScape and Minus-E, and one from the Municipality of Matosinhos, Green Lessons.<\/p>\n\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t
