BUILT CoLAB took part in five Design Thinking sessions organised by ADENE in July, with the aim of co-creating the ECE – Citizen Energy Space, in collaboration with companies and entities from various sectors of industry, as well as several local entities.

In this process BUILT CoLAB was represented by Vanessa Tavares in the sessions that took place in Porto and by Leonor Santos in the sessions that took place in Lisbon.

The Design Thinking process, led by Mindshake, was structured around five main themes: Users, Activities, Interactions, Physical and digital space, and Objects integrated into the ECE. Each session was essential for generating innovative ideas that will shape the characteristics of these spaces.

ECEs are structures set up by local or regional authorities or other local entities, which must offer a range of services to residents, with the main aim of providing a proximity vehicle for empowering citizens to effectively implement energy efficiency and renewable energy measures, as well as to adopt energy-sustainable behaviour by increasing energy literacy.

For BUILT CoLAB, this participation is in line with its positioning with regard to Sustainability in the Built Environment, contributing to this pioneering project that aims to create centres of excellence to support the energy and sustainability transition.
