At the invitation of Porto City Council, BUILT CoLAB will participate in the presentation sessions of the Porto Environmental Index, which will take place in October at AICCOPN, OREN and OA.
At these events, BUILT CoLAB will issue a commentary from the perspective of the AEC sector, reflecting on the objectives and potential uses of the Port Environmental Index, which aims to be a strategic tool for urban sustainability.
The Index is a voluntary environmental and energy rating system for buildings, allowing building owners to access relevant benefits, such as:
. Obtaining the Port Environmental Index certificate and badge;
. Reduction of urban development charges;
. Increase in the building index in areas of isolated blocks of free implementation and in areas of type II economic activities.
Envisioned in the Municipal Master Plan for Porto since 2021, and in line with the environmental goals set for the city, this mechanism aims to encourage sustainable construction practices by evaluating projects in four key areas: energy, green infrastructure and biodiversity, sustainable water and drainage, circular economy, and carbon.
The Regulation and the Environmental Index Calculator are open for public consultation until 12 November 2025 and can be viewed here.
Participation in the presentation events is free and open to all interested parties, but registration is mandatory:
