As part of the DIGITALbuilt project, BUILT CoLAB offers a ‘Test Before Invest’ service for BIM methodology and digitalisation solutions.
This service enables companies to try out, in a hands-on manner and with expert guidance, various digital tools and workflows tailored to the AEC sector, including demonstrations of BIM modelling, coordination and visualisation software, point cloud integration, Digital Twins and immersive solutions (AR/VR) developed by BUILT CoLAB.
The aim of the service is to enable organisations to understand, in a real-world context, the value of BIM methodology and associated technologies, based on practical examples. In this way, organisations will be able to assess potential efficiency gains in coordination and information management, learn how to improve project visualisation and communication processes, as well as how to reduce errors and conflicts during the design and construction phases, and how to support investment decisions in digitalisation with lower risk.
The service is based on a demonstration of a representative use case, through which participants follow a complete workflow, from the creation of a model to its use in various tools, with direct interaction with the technologies involved.
This service is provided during a 4-hour face-to-face session at the BUILT CoLAB headquarters in Porto, with the option for two people from the organisation to attend.

Important notes:
This ‘Test Before Invest’ service for BIM methodology and digitalisation solutions is provided as part of the DIGITALBuilt – European Digital Innovation Hub project, of which BUILT CoLAB is a member. It enables organisations to find solutions that promote their digitalisation at more affordable prices, as they benefit from co-funding from the Recovery and Resilience Facility (RRF) and the European Union.
To access this service at the reduced rate, the organisation must meet the following requirements:
(a) Be an SME, a start-up or a public sector body (with a European tax identification number);
b) The invoice will be issued in the name of the said entity, as follows: a simultaneous issuance of an invoice for the full amount and a receipt relating to the DIGITALbuilt grant (87.5%); VAT is not included in this grant and the entity will be required to pay it;
(c) The entity must also:
- complete and submit a questionnaire on your digital literacy, both before and after taking part in this training session (to this end, participants will be contacted directly by the BUILT CoLAB team following registration);
- submit a self-declaration confirming that the company has complied with the €220,000 limit over a three-year period, as provided for in Article 28(4) of the RGIC;
- to have their situation regularised with regard to reimbursements under European Fund financing, in accordance with Article 7(f) of Ministerial Order No 135-A/2022 of 1 April;
- have their affairs in order with the Tax Authority, in accordance with Article 177-B(e) of the Code of Tax Procedure;
- be in good standing with Social Security, in accordance with Article 213(e) of the Code of Contributory Schemes of the Social Security System;
- not to be a “firm in difficulty” as defined in Article 2(18) of the RGIC.
