João Moutinho, Director of BUILT CoLAB, attended the Science and Innovation 2026 Conference, held on 15 and 16 July at the Lisbon Congress Centre.
This year, under the theme ‘Preparing for the Future’, the event brought together the scientific community, businesses, public bodies and European partners for a wide-ranging debate on the strategic priorities that should guide the national science and innovation ecosystem in the coming years.
Also worth highlighting is the discussion on the future of the National Science and Technology System, and on the strategic direction of the new Agency for Research and Innovation — AI². In this context, the strategic importance of Collaborative Laboratories, such as BUILT CoLAB, was emphasised, as was the need to ensure stable, adequate and predictable funding models that enable them to continue transforming scientific knowledge into innovation, competitiveness and economic and social impact.
