Inês Martins, from BUILT CoLAB, took part in the CESARE 2024/CircularB Mid Term Conference and the 1st Training School of the COST Circular B Action, which took place between 27 and 31 May in Timisoara.
The CESARE 2024 Conference, entitled “Coordinating Engineering for Sustainability and Resilience”, was dedicated to presenting the latest results and discussing key issues relating to sustainability and resilience in modern and future built environments, constructions and infrastructures. During the conference, Inês Martins presented the article “Framework for a Multi-level Approach for Testing the Construction Demolition Waste Hierarchy”, which she co-authored with Vanessa Tavares and João Poças Martins, also from BUILT CoLAB (the article is also available for consultation in the Conference Proceedings).
The 1st Training School focused on transmitting and sharing knowledge about circularity strategies and best practices for new and existing buildings, meeting the European Commission’s objectives of promoting specialisation and innovation in the field of circular economy practices.
The events, which took place in line with each other, provided participants with an opportunity to present their research and the knowledge acquired during the Training School, allowing for a wider dissemination of ideas and feedback from different audiences, such as researchers and experts in Circularity in Construction.
The organisation was an initiative of the Department of Steel Structures and Structural Mechanics at the Politehnica Timișoara University, in cooperation with the Romanian Academy, the School of Engineering at the University of Birmingham, the Faculty of Engineering at the Jordan University of Science and Technology, COST ACTION CA21103 “Implementation of Circular Economy in the Built Environment” and the Romanian Academy of Technical Sciences.
