On 5 May 2026, the plenary meeting of TC 197 – BIM, the Technical Committee for Building Information Modelling Standardisation, took place at LNEC. The meeting was coordinated by BUILT CoLAB in its capacity as the Sectoral Standardisation Body (SSB).
The meeting was held in a hybrid format and enabled members of Technical Committee 197 – BIM to review the progress and efforts made in standardising BIM methodology, as well as to reflect on the work carried out throughout 2025 and the activities planned for 2026.
It was an opportunity for the various committee members to share ideas, coordinate their efforts and cooperate, reinforcing their joint commitment to the development of BIM standards.
Main items on the meeting agenda:
- Monitoring of international working groups.
- Membership of other Technical Committees.
- Establishment of working groups.
- Analysis of prEN ISO 19650-1 and prEN ISO 19650-2, which are currently in the enquiry phase.
- Approval of new members.
- Upcoming events.
ONS BUILT CoLAB would like to thank all members of Technical Committee 197 – BIM who continue to dedicate their time and expertise to advancing the standardisation and implementation of BIM methodology in Portugal, as well as the new members who have now joined this Technical Committee, demonstrating the growing interest in this topic and its importance for promoting digitalisation and sustainability within the AEC sector in Portugal.
