The Mobilizing Agenda “Construction Industrialization – From ‘construction site’ to ‘factory’, a new paradigm of the sector for the 21st century” in which BUILT CoLAB participates was, on November 29, 2021, evaluated with “Very Good” and thus passed to the second phase of scrutiny.
This agenda, resulting from a contest of ideas for the RRP, was thus recognized as important for the economy, sustainability and national resilience and was one of the chosen ones in an application process with a membership never seen before.
The application, led by Mota-Engil in partnership with Teixeira Duarte, is composed of a consortium of 22 entities that propose to change the way construction is done in Portugal, thus promoting the “industrialization” of the construction sector, an innovative concept not really explored until now. Digital technologies will thus be the element capable of triggering the necessary transformations, from the modernization of processes to the joint effort required for the Twin Transition. In general terms, the Agenda embraces several areas related to the modularization and automation of offsite production, the automation of on-site assembly, the reduction of construction time and associated costs, the adoption of new processes and materials, the digitization of products and processes, as well as workplace safety and the sustainability of the entire ecosystem underlying the construction sector.
This application arises from Notice No. 01/C05-i01/2021, which calls for expressions of interest for the development of projects within the scope of the Mobilizing Agendas for Business Innovation. The budget allocated to this call is 930 million euros, of which 558 million euros are allocated to the Mobilizing Agendas for Business Innovation and 372 million euros for the Green Agendas.
